One of the most sublime experiences we can ever have is to wake up feeling healthy after we have been sick – Rabbi Harold Kushner

  • Naturopathic Medicine
    •  Naturopathic medicine is a distinct method of primary health care - an art, science, philosophy and practice of diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of illness. Naturopathic physicians seek to restore and maintain optimum health in their patients by emphasizing nature's inherent self-healing process. This is accomplished through education and the rational use of natural therapeutics.
  • Nutrition
    • Specific diets will differ for each individual but we tend to recommend a whole food based diet with adequate protein, vitamins, and minerals.  Other recommendations will depend on the presence of any illness or specific needs of the individual.
    • Dietary changes can be challenging for patients and we try to work with patients to make realistic steps that can be implemented so that patients do not become discouraged.
  • Herbs and Nutrients
    • These therapies are utilized based on either modern research into treating pathology or long standing traditional usage.
    • These are often used as a tool to get patients well, while teaching patients ways to improve their health. The long-term goal is to not need to take these daily.
  • Physical Medicine
    • A large part of our training is in hands-on medicine.  Touch is an important element in healing and we tend to use a combination of massage, stretching, manipulation, and take home strengthening exercises with our patients.
  • Craniosacral Therapy
    • By gently working with the spine, the skull, diaphragms, and fascia the restrictions of nerve passages are eased, the movement of cerebrospinal fluid through the spinal cord can be optimized, and misaligned bones are restored to their proper position. Craniosacral can assist with mental stress, neck and back pain, migraines, insomnia,TMJ Syndrome, and for chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia.
  • Homeopathy
    • Homeopathy is a system of medicine based on looking at the totality of a person’s symptoms and identifying a homeopathic medicine that would cause similar symptoms in a healthy person.  The administration of a minute dose of the correct medicine allows the vital force of a person to heal the individual and move them toward wellness.
  • Colon Hydrotherapy
    • The colon is one of the main organs of elimination clearing the toxins from the body. Colon therapy has been used for thousands of years as a natural internal bath.  It can improve your overall sense of well being and is very helpful in assisting with weight loss.  The colonic differs from an enema in that you rest comfortably, while a short tube which has an inlet for warm water and an outlet for waste is gently inserted into the rectum.
  • Problem Focused Counseling
    • Total health is more than the lack of physical symptoms.  Mental and emotional well-being are crucial for overall health.
    • It is important to examine our lives and our roles in the larger community.  Isolation is a common occurrence when someone becomes ill and much of the healing process is dependent on reconnecting with others and being involved with a spiritual practice.
  • Lifestyle Interventions
    • The importance of physical activity on preventing illness and improving overall sense of well-being has been well documented in numerous studies.
    • Problems with sleep have a strong influence on health.  Sleep disturbances magnify many other conditions and may be the cause of illness.  By utilizing proven methods in sleep hygiene, targeted nutrients, and botanicals many can improve their sleep naturally.
    • Numerous studies have shown the effectiveness of meditation, relaxation exercises, and prayer to improve overall quality of life.
