Colon Therapy FAQ

What are the benefits of colon therapy?

The colon's main function is the elimination of the body's waste. We experience health and well-being when the colon is clean. When the colon is sluggish, hardened feces lodge in the pockets of the colon walls, resulting in constipation. This hardened matter then obstructs the muscular contractions (peristalsis), reducing the colon's ability to properly evacuate. This build up of many months or years may weigh as much as 15 pounds, causing distended and abnormally shaped colon. The clogged colon interferes with final absorption and digestion of food, which create poisons. The poisons are reabsorbed into the blood stream and are carried to every part of the body causing a tired and listless feeling. The brain and nervous system become toxic, causing depression and irrability; the lungs cause foul breath and stressful breathing; the digestive organs create skin problems; and the joints may become stiff and painful due to toxic deposits.

Can I be constipated even if I have 1, 2, or 3 bowel movements a day?

Yes. Accumulated wastes, mucous, and gas in the colon may inhibit its natural peristalitc action, resulting in incomplete - though frequent bowel movements.

Are colon cleansing completely safe?

Yes. In fact, with the latest colonic equipment and wel-trained, certified Colon Therapist, it is very safe.

How does the colonic differ from an enema?

The enema only cleans the lower part of the colon, whereas a colon cleaning bathes the entire length of the colon. A colonic is many more times effective, according to learned centarian, Dr. Norman Walker, said, "One colonic is equivalent to 30 enemas."

Are colonics habit forming?

No. The purpose of cleansing the colon is to allow it to relax and rejuvenate and promote better peristalsis. The colon cannot heal when it is constantly working to get rid of accumulated wastes, gases and poisons.

How many times do I need colonics?

Often. The waste is so hard and deeply lodged in the colon, that it may take a series of colonics to sufficiently soften and loosen it. Colonics also stimulate the liver, kidney and lymph system to dump toxins. The number of treatments varies with each individual and his/her condition. Your therapist can best advice you regarding this.

Should I eat before I come in for a colonic?

Yes. Eat something light. Do not eat a heavy meal. The therapist needs to see how your body digest's food you normally eat.

Is there any possibility of bacterial or viral contamination from prior use of the colon machine?

No. The latest colonic machines now use disposable hose and speculums. Since these accessories are only used once and then thrown away, there is no danger of contamination.

Will I experience any intestinal discomfort or fatigue after the cleansing?

Not usually, but since the cleansing will stir up old debris and toxins you might experience some nausea or fatique. We recommend resting and applying a warm heating pad to the abdomen if any discomfort occurs. A mild vegetable broth or a soothing tea will help at this time. Any discomfort will usually pass withing 24 hours.

If the sewer system in your home is backed up, your entire home is affected. Should it be any different with your body?

A session generally lasts around 40 minutes and you are left feeling lighter and refreshed.  Contact our office to schedule a session today.
