       Dr.Toby K. Hallowitz, ND, MSOM, LAc

A naturopathic doctor and licensed acupunturist who has spent the last seven years developing a thriving integrative health care practice in Western New York. Dr Toby has moved his wife Brigitte and 2 year old son Lukas to the Inland Northwest and has begun building his practice of naturopathic and classical Chinese medicine at the Stevens Naturopathic Center.

      He grew up in the Washington D.C. metro area, obtained his undergraduate education at the University of Rochester, NY and received his Doctorate in naturopathic medicine and Master of Science in oriental medicine  at the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, OR.

His focus on evidence-based clinical naturopathic medicine includes a comprehensive understanding of current medical science, conventional medical, alternative and integrative therapies, which includes Western herbology, nutrition, homeopathy, physical medicine, hydrotherapy, nature cure, etc.

  He is a classically trained Chinese medical practitioner, which means his training is based on the classic texts and Chinese medicine theory and therapies as they have been practiced over the past millennia. These include: acupuncture, moxa, qi gong, diet therapy and strong focus on Chinese herbology. Treatments are patient oriented, rather than disease centered, and are individually tailored to each patient's unique condition.

   Dr. Toby has worked with patients who have many different health concerns and conditions. These include: cardiovascular disease, obesity, diabetes, hyerlipidemia, smoking, autoimmune disease, heavy metals, musculoskeletal complaints, fertility, pregnancy and pre-birth acupuncture, menopausal symptoms, insomnia, depression, anxiety, dermatological conditions and many more.  Having been diagnosed with crohn's disease years ago, he has a vast amount of experience in treating digestive disorders with natural medicine - he does not need to take any pharmaceutical medications.

        One of the primary reasons Dr. Toby relocated to this area is his desire to be a primary care doctor. which was not possible in NY. In Chautauqua county, the rural grape belt of Western New York, he practiced out of his historic home (built in 1812). Like the house doctors of older times, he became an integral part of Chautauqua community and was able to practice his skills in healing while developing close relationships with his patients. the ability to understand a patient beyond only physical symptoms and into the realms of what a person is going through on a mental, emotional and spiritual plane, allows for healing to take place on a holistic level.  Dr.Toby hopes to foster this same kind of care to the community at Liberty Lake and the Spokane/Coeur d' Alene area.
